Scent Stacking - The Wellness Trend Taking Over 2026!

So it turns out that something we’ve been doing for a while now has a name...Not only that, it’s been flagged as a Pinterest Predicts trend for 2026 - it's called Scent Stacking and once you know what it is, it feels very obvious, and it might be something that you're already doing too!

So what is scent stacking?

In simple terms, scent stacking is about using different scents at different points in the day, instead of relying on one fragrance to carry you from morning to night. In Layman's terms, Scent stacking is just matching scent to the moment you’re in or the mood you're trying to achieve.

It's funny, because those millennial magazines spent years telling us we'd need to effortlessly transition from day to night...this might not have been quite what they had in mind but nevertheless - we're finally doing it!

Why it's helpful...

Smell is closely linked to the part of the brain that deals with mood, memory and behaviour (the limbic system). Which is why, certain scents can make you feel calmer, more alert or more comforted almost instantly, without you consciously deciding to feel that way.

Our brains also rely heavily on signals to know when to change gear... Light changing, noise dropping, changing into a different outfit. The evenings feel different to mornings because we change certain things in our environment. Scent plays a role in that too!

We realised we’d naturally started doing this without knowing it had a 'name'.

During the day, we tend to use Nero. It’s great for focus and works well while we’re working, answering emails or trying to concentrate on something that needs more than half a brain cell. Using it earlier in the day also seems to stop that wired feeling hanging around into the evening.

Then, without really thinking about it, we close our laptop, change into something comfy and switch to Relax later on. What's smart, is that the two scents blend beautifully together and were designed back in the early days to work together too.

It’s not about one scent being better than another. It’s about the switch and the nice thing about scent stacking is that there are no rules. You don’t need a morning scent, an afternoon scent and a bedtime scent unless you want them. You can pick the mood you want to enhance and there will be a Soul scent there to support you.

We’ll be sharing more about how we use scent stacking with Nero and Relax this week, but if you want to try it yourself, you probably already have everything you need.

Sometimes it turns out you were doing the right thing all along. You just didn’t know it had a name!
